How Much Does It Cost to Fix a Dented Bumper?

By First Choice Auto Reconditioning · Taylors, SC · October 2026

Front bumper with dent and cracked paint damage before repair

"How much to fix this?" — it's the first question everybody asks, usually while pointing at their bumper. Fair enough. Here's an honest breakdown of what bumper repair actually costs in the Upstate.

Paintless dent repair: $150–$400

If the paint isn't cracked and the dent is accessible from behind the panel, paintless dent repair (PDR) can work magic — no painting, no filler, often done same-day. This is the cheapest fix, but it only works when the paint is intact.

Bumper repair and respray: $300–$700

Cracked paint, deep scuffs, or a dent the PDR tools can't reach? Then the bumper gets repaired with filler, sanded, primed, and refinished to match your factory color. Modern paint matching is done with a computer — when it's done right, you can't tell where the repair was.

Bumper replacement: $600–$1,500+

If the bumper cover is torn, the mounting tabs are snapped, or the reinforcement bar behind it is bent, replacement is the safe call. The part itself runs a few hundred dollars; the rest is paint, blending into adjacent panels, and recalibrating any parking sensors or cameras in the bumper.

What drives the price up?

Why the cheapest quote can cost you

A quote that's hundreds below everyone else usually means skipped steps: no blending (hello, mismatched bumper), cheap clear coat that peels in a year, or "we didn't see" hidden damage that shows up later. A proper estimate lists every line item — ask to see it.
